Woman kidnapped, robbed by women pretending to need help

NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A woman was kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint after she agreed to help someone whom she thought was having a medical issue, Sandy Springs Police say.

Juana Figueroa told Channel 2 Action News and Telemundo that she was leaving her Roswell Road apartment on April 8 to head to the bank when a car pulled up alongside her.

"A lady called me and said, 'Oh, I need help, can you help me, my mom is passing out,'" she said through an interpreter. "I was talking to the old lady, and her daughter took the gun out and (said), 'You will drive with us. You know the consequences if you don't drive with us.'"

Figueroa said the women forced her into the car, stole $200, some jewelry and her phone, then dropped her off up the street from her home.

"They told me not to tell anybody, not even the police," she said.

Police told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik that the case is unusual.

"In my 27-year career, I can't recall this kind of MO with two females robbing and kidnapping a second person," Sgt. Ron Momon said.

Momon said investigators were looking for two women in a Honda.

"(We have) no leads. (The) only thing we have is just two Hispanic females, one darker complexion, one driving some type of Honda product," he said.

Momon said anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS and could be eligible for a reward if it leads to the arrest and conviction of the culprits.

Figueroa said she's concerned for her safety.

"I feel afraid and that they will maybe come back," she said.
