ALLATOONA LAKE, Ga. — A 20-year-old man died after going underwater while swimming across a cove at Allatoona Lake on Sept. 20, according to Georgia Game Wardens.

Game Wardens and Bartow County Fire and Rescue responded to the Websters Day Use Area after witnesses reported the man began struggling while swimming and went underwater before reaching the opposite shoreline.
Responders immediately began searching the area using SONAR equipment.
The man was located and recovered around 3:50 p.m.
His body was turned over to the Bartow County Coroner’s Office. The victim had not yet been publicly identified.
