FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Fulton County Jail contract nurse was arrested after investigators said she provided an inmate with prescription medication he was not authorized to receive.

Shakimia G. Johnson, 36, was arrested Sept. 14 and charged with a felony for allegedly providing a prohibited drug to an inmate without authorization. Her bond was set at $10,000.
According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson had an undisclosed preexisting romantic relationship with inmate Caleb Sims.
Investigators said that Johnson knowingly provided Sims with prescription medication even though he did not have an active prescription or medication order for the drugs.
The sheriff’s office said that during an interview with jail investigators, Johnson admitted to bringing Sims the medication.

Medical contract supervisory personnel confirmed Sims was not prescribed the medication at the time of the incident and that its administration was not documented.
Surveillance video showed Johnson entering the housing unit under the pretense of delivering patient medication and hand-delivering items to Sims, investigators said.
Investigators also identified about 144 recorded phone calls and social media communications between Johnson and Sims.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any staff member or contractor who compromises the security of our facility,” Fulton County Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat said. “Abusing a professional medical position to give unauthorized items an inmate will result in arrest and aggressive prosecution.”
Labat said the sheriff’s office would hold accountable anyone who violates the trust placed in them to maintain the safety and security of the facility.
