‘I think I love you.’: Women express love, comfort for convicted killer Alex Murdaugh, messages show

ATLANTA — As convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh has begun his life sentence over the killings of his wife and son, records show that he has started receiving all sorts of mail from women as far away as the United Kingdom.

WHNS-TV filed a Freedom of Information Act request and obtained more than 30 messages to the once-high-profile South Carolina attorney.

Some of the messages offer legal advice, extend comfort and friendship – and some even express attraction to Murdaugh.

“I think I love you,” a woman named Nicolette wrote to Murdaugh. “I think about you all day, every day.

“I swear on my life and on my soul I’ll never say a single word to anyone important or not important. I genuinely care for you,” she wrote in another message.

Another woman said she hoped her messages would brighten Murdaugh’s day.

“There is hope for you. I know there has got to be. Is there anything that I can do for you? Things you would like me to send you on case law to help with your appeal? I am willing to help in any way that I can. XXLacie,” she wrote.
