Hawks, local charity surprise teen in wheelchair with new room

Kalen Reese was surprised by Hawks players and a local charity Sunday.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Local charity Sunshine on a Ranney Day and members of the Atlanta Hawks have surprised a Powder Springs teenager with a bedroom makeover.

Kalen Reese and his family saw his new Hawks-themed bedroom and bathroom Sunday.

Some of the Hawks were there for the big reveal. Dominique Wilkins, Kris Humphries, Malcolm Delaney and Tim Hardaway Jr. were all there for Kalen.

The 16-year-old was paralyzed in a car wreck in 2008. That has created some challenges for Kalen moving around his home in his wheel chair. The makeover will allow him to be more independent.

After the surprise, Kalen got to shoot some hoops with the Hawks players.

Kalen is an all-star wheelchair basketball player with Blaze sports.
