Neighbors banging on door of burning home saved family inside

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were critically injured and rushed to the hospital on Friday morning after their Gwinnett County home caught fire.

Officials say they were called to a home on Park Place Drive at 6:48 a.m.

By the time they got there, three people had made it out but told them that one more person was trapped in the basement.

Firefighters were able to get that person out of the burning home approximately 20 minutes later.

Two people were taken to the hospital, but no other injuries were reported.

The home suffered heavy smoke and water damage.

Those living in the home say they were woken up by the person who called 911 banging on their door, saving their lives. The smoke alarms inside the home were not active.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
