MT. JULIET, Tenn. — A traffic stop led to an unexpected discovery involving a weapon that had been missing for more than six years, according to police.

The Mt. Juliet Police Department in Tennessee said officers stopped a vehicle on Lebanon Road near Lookout Drive after noticing a Move Over Law violation.
During the investigation, officers found an 18-year-old Nashville man in possession of a Glock handgun that had been reported stolen in DeKalb County on April 5, 2020.

Police also said the 18-year-old was found with marijuana. A 21-year-old Nashville man in the vehicle was also found in possession of marijuana, according to authorities.
Mt. Juliet, Tenn. is more than 260 miles from DeKalb County.
Police credited officers’ vigilance during the traffic stop with leading to the recovery of the stolen firearm.
Information about charges related to the stolen gun was not immediately released.
