ATLANTA — Atlanta music legend Gladys Knight says she plans on finishing the rest of her tour in 2026.
The legendary singer had announced in August that she would be taking a step back from performing and ‘transitioning into the next stage’ of her life and career.

In a new statement on her Instagram page Sunday, Knight hinted that will be sooner rather than later.
“After heartfelt discussions with my team, I recognize that no matter how much I love lifting spirits in song, it’s time for the midnight train to make just a few more stops. I’m finishing the year strong with my remaining performances. Looking forward to new ventures next year. Again, I am so very grateful for all the love and support over the years. God bless all of you,” the statement read.

Knight’s statement comes just days after her son raised concerns about his mother’s tour. Shanga Hankerson told the Detroit News that he worries about his mother’s health and accused his mother’s husband, William McDowell, of taking advantage of her.
“My belief and fear is that he intends to literally try to work her until she passes away. And you can quote me on that,” Hankerson told the Detroit News.
This isn’t the first time that Hankerson has called out Knight’s busy tour schedule and her husband’s role. Knight previously told People Magazine that her son’s allegations are “unfounded.”
Knight’s website lists performances on Oct. 7 in Pennsylvania, Oct. 9 in Virginia, Oct. 10 in New Jersey and Nov. 14 in California.
