Georgia teacher arrested after sending ‘obscene’ picture to student on Snapchat, deputies say

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County man was arrested after authorities said he sent an obscene photo of himself to one of his students.

Matthew “Tyler” Stubbs, of Duluth, was taken into custody late Tuesday by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. The 25-year-old teacher at Flowery Branch High School is facing a charge of electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor.

Authorities said Stubbs was communicating with a 16-year-old student of his on Snapchat on March 6. He then sent a explicit photo of himself to the student, investigators said.

School personnel notified the sheriff’s office about the incident on Tuesday morning, after they placed Stubbs on leave.

Stubbs remained in the Hall County Jail on Wednesday.
