The state suspended its gas tax of 33.3 cents per gallon through Oct. 29, with a slightly higher suspension for diesel.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in metro Atlanta dropped from $4.19 to $3.84 in one week — a 35-cent decrease.

At a Shell station along Cascade Road near I-285 in South Fulton, regular gas was $4.09 per gallon for cash customers Monday, compared with $4.39 a week earlier.

At a BP station across the street, prices were also about 30 cents lower than they were the previous Monday.

But not every driver said they were seeing the same level of savings.

TRENDING STORIES:

Some drivers said the lower prices were helping, while others said they had noticed little change or felt prices were continuing to rise.

At stations in southwest Atlanta, prices were just under $4 per gallon at a Chevron on Fairburn Road and an Amoco on Benjamin E. Mays Drive. The Amoco’s price had dropped about 10 cents in one week.

Some drivers said they are using gas-price apps to find cheaper stations and save more at the pump.

One driver said an app helped him save an additional 15 cents per gallon during his latest fill-up.

Despite the lower prices, some drivers said they are not changing how much they drive.

The state’s gas tax suspension runs through Oct. 29.
