HINESVILLE, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Saturday morning outside a Hinesville bar.
Authorities say Cashane Cadeem Calder, 31, of Hinesville, was wounded an off-duty officer after allegedly opening fire into a crowd.

The shooting took place around 1:50 a.m. at the Frozen Paradise Bar and Grill, located at 818 EG Miles Parkway.
Two off-duty Hinesville Police Department officers were working at the bar when a fight broke out among a group of people inside and spilled out into the parking area.
According to preliminary details released by state authorities, a customer alerted one of the off-duty officers to the fight as it moved outdoors. As an officer walked toward the building, Calder fired a handgun multiple times into the crowd. One of the officers then fired at Calder, striking him several times.

Calder was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in stable but critical condition. Authorities confirmed that no police officers were injured in the incident.
The GBI stated that the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hinesville Police Department at 912-368-8211 or the GBI Statesboro Regional Office at 912-871-1121. Once completed, the GBI will submit the investigation findings to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
