GBI charges 3 men in deaths of 2 women thrown from Floyd County bridge

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says it has arrested three men on a charge of the murder of two women whose bodies were found underneath a bridge in Rome that crosses over the Etowah river.

Investigators said Vanita Richardson, 18, and Clarice Truvenia Campbell, 30, had been thrown from the bridge in May. They both had bags over their heads.

The GBI announced Thursday that Desmond Lavonta Brown, 28, Devin Lashawn Watts, 36, and Christopher Leedarius Pullen, 23, have been charged with felony murder in their deaths.

Investigators said they recovered Richardson’s car from a location in the city of South Fulton. It had been missing since the time of the women’s deaths.

The three men are also being charged with a long list of other crimes. The bureau has not said what the motive was behind the killings.

The men are currently being held in the Floyd County Jail.
