EAST POINT, Ga. — East Point police responded to a home and gunfire in the Bayberry, Villages of East Point neighborhood early on Sunday morning.
According to police, around 2 a.m., a patrol officer was flagged down near a Citgo gas station on Stanton Road.

A woman at the gas station asked for an escort home after telling them that while she was driving, her children called and said they’d heard gunshots nearby on Bayrose Circle.

When Channel 2 Action News first got to the scene, officers from East Point, College Park and South Fulton ha the area surrounded.
A Channel 2 Action News photographer also saw officers in the area moving quickly, armed and ready while they evacuated neighbors from a townhome nearby.

When officers got to the area where the home was, they heard what they believed to be gunfire coming from a house there and took cover, calling the South Metro SWAT Team for backup.
SWAT surrounded the townhome and officers got a search warrant for the residence, finding no suspicious people.
No one reported injuries or property damage either, according to the East Point Police Department.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
