• Family fights to find son's killer in Halloween shooting

ATLANTA - The family of a man shot and killed Halloween night is asking for the public's help in identifying the gunman.

Atlanta police said they have no leads in the shooting that happened in southwest Atlanta on Alison Court.

The victim's family said he left his home at 11:30 p.m. for a party with friends. Less than an hour later he was found shot to death about three miles away. They want police to start with the group of guys he left with.

Jerrod Ford's family describes him as smart, loving and a young man who liked to have fun with his friends.

"He loved clubbing, he was young," said Jerrod Ford's mother, Mia Williams.

They said he was headed to a birthday party Halloween night.

"A group of guys he was going with apparently had other plans for him. They took him and killed him," Williams said.

Ford was found shot to death behind an apartment building, according to his family.

Ford's family said robbery could have been the motive. By the time police arrived to the scene, there was nothing on him to identify him.

"He didn't have jewelry, he keep money, cell phone," said Ford's uncle Reco Ford.

Reco also said his nephew left in a champagne-colored Porsche Cayenne that night. He said he believed someone his nephew knew shot and killed him that night, he just doesn't know why.

"Be a man step up for what you've done," Reco said.

Ford's dad said he is meeting with detectives Monday. The family is asking anyone who may know anything about this crime to call Atlanta police.
