Driver of stolen Mini Cooper charged in deadly Bartow County crash, troopers say

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — A driver is in custody following a police chase that ended in a deadly crash.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a trooper tried to stop Christopher Tyler Parker, 20, of Blountsville, who was speeding in a Mini Cooper at 95 mph. Parker did not stop and a chase started.

Parker got off of I-75 and was turning onto GA 3 northbound from GA 140 East when troopers say he hit a Buick Verano on the driver’s side. The Buick then hit the back of a Dodge Durango.

The woman in the Buick died. Troopers identified her as Angela Walker Townsend, 55, of Adairsville.

The driver of the Dodge, 34-year-old Vanessa Stovall, of Talking Rock, was taken to Gordon Hospital with head and shoulder pains.

Parker is being charged with felony vehicular homicide, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, felony receiving stolen property and felony bringing stolen property across state lines. Parker stole the Mini Cooper from his grandmother, troopers say.
