TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — Dozens of animals have been removed from a home near LaGrange and will now receive proper care.
Animal Control went to the home and more than 30 animals, including 20 Chihuahuas and 3 ferrets and several cats.
According to the Hogansville Police Department, there was no power in the home and the animals were running around in their own filth.
Police said they made contact with the resident, Jonathan Gaddy, who said that five of the dogs belonged to him and approximately 20 of the dogs belong to his mother, Tina Daniel.
Gaddy and Danile were given citations for animal cruelty and neglect.
The Atlanta Humane Society is bringing in the 20 Chihuahuas.
"They're all Chihuahuas, mixes. They're absolutely adorable. They're going to make sweet, wonderful pets," said Christina Hill with the Atlanta Humane Society.
The puppies and moms will go into foster care, and the adults will receive veterinary care and be placed up for adoption.
