Did you know one of the deepest caves in the country is in Georgia?

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. — The entrance to Ellison’s Cave may look small, but the opening to a mind-blowing site in northwest Georgia.

The cave is 12th deepest in the United States. But what makes it truly special is a part of the cave called “The Fantastic Pit."

It’s the deepest unobstructed underground cave in the continental U.S. and it’s in Walker County.

Plunging 586 feet, it's nearly as tall as Seattle’s Space Needle and twice the size of the Statue of Liberty.

If you’re thinking about exploring the cave, the Walker County government warns that cave is not for beginners. Only experienced cavers should attempt.
