STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Police are investigating after a young man was found shot to death in the front yard of a Stone Mountain home.
The man was found in the Water’s Edge subdivision off Rockbridge Road. He was later identified as David Hayman, 20.
A neighbor told Channel 2′s Tom Regan that his wife heard a commotion and gunfire outside her window Wednesday night and then saw guys running away.
But the body of a Hayman, who fell into some bushes, wasn’t discovered until Thursday morning.
“It’s terrible. We aren’t used to this stuff over here,” neighbor Nicholas Holloway said.
Crime scene investigators fanned out in the neighborhood Thursday, combing for clues in the deadly shooting.
“They spent some time searching around for bullets, and they found bullets and a magazine clip — about 8 inches long with bullets in it,” neighbor Radcliff Johnson said.

Johnson lives across the street from where the body was found and said the deadly attack happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
“(My wife) heard gunshots and she looked through the window and saw the scuffle,” Johnson said.
“It’s really, really hard to believe because this is a nice quiet beautiful community, and I was shocked,” neighbor Sandra Holloway said.
Neighbors said they don’t know who or why someone would kill him.
“I’m saddened. I don’t know what to think,” neighbor Bernard Gunter said. “It’s a safe neighborhood in general. But crime is going up everywhere.”
