DeKalb County police are investigating a deadly train accident Wednesday morning.

Officials told Channel 2 Action News that a train hit and killed someone in the area of Turner Hill Road and Covington Highway.
Police said they located the body east of the Turner Hill Road intersection.

DeKalb County police said they believe the victim was walking on the tracks when they were killed. The investigation remains ongoing.
Family members identified the man as David Simpson. His mother Loraine Trammeal told Channel 2 that her son suffered from mental health problems.
She encouraged people to take mental health issues seriously and promote mental health awareness.
