Van speeding away from police crashes into truck head-on, surveillance video show

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has obtained surveillance video that shows a wrong-way crash during a police chase that shut down busy Cobb County road.

It happened Tuesday afternoon along Veterans Memorial Highway near Austell.

Police are investigating how it all started still, but video obtained by Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes shows Cobb County police cruisers chase a white van as other cars along the road pull over.

Then all of a sudden, you see the white van hit a truck head-on.

Witnesses said there were six people in the truck that was hit, including a small child.

They also said the driver who was running from police looked like he was on drugs.

Fernandes confirmed with a police source that doctors used Narcan on the driver of the van when he got to the hospital.

There were some injuries in the truck, but luckily no one was killed in the wreck.

Channel 2 Action News has reached out to police to get more details as to why they were chasing the van, but so far we have not heard back.
