COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators spent several hours Thursday searching for an armed man accused of shooting at police after they responded to a silent alarm at a Cobb County business.
It started around 9:28 a.m. in the 2600 block of Spring Road. Smyrna police said officers responded to the area and found the suspect at a check cashier business.
“When our officer arrived on scene, he encountered a male subject (and) there was gunfire that was exchanged, resulting in an officer-involved shooting, “said Smyrna Police Lt. Meredith Holt.

At some point, one of the officers fired their gun. No one was injured. The man ran from the scene.
“When police started coming, they surrounded the whole place,” Grace Bako, who said she was buying a drink at Quicktrip when the gunfire rang out, told Channel 2′s Michael Seiden. “I’ve been in America for 15 years and I’ve never seen such things.”
Police haven’t released a detailed description of the armed men, but they’re calling on the public to report any information that could help them identify him.
