State officials said the bot did not access a voter file or Georgia’s voter registration system.

“This was publicly available data accessed through our data hub. It did not get into the voter registration system,” Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs said.

Georgia’s data hub is a place where information is made available for people and systems to access.

The Secretary of State’s office said the incident did not involve the state’s voter registration system. That system is separate from the publicly available information accessed through the data hub.

The state’s statement did not provide further details about what specific public data it accessed.
