COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Less than 24 hours after Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell spoke to FedEx customers about massive package delays, customers in other parts of Georgia have come forward about packages they say are stuck at a FedEx facility in Macon.

Several people, including a business owner, have said their packages have been stuck in Macon for weeks.

“It’s over $2,500 worth of items that’s stuck in Macon for over two-and-a-half weeks now,” Brian Leath told Newell.

“They have four packages and at one point they had seven,” said Jacinda Elliott, who is a business owner.

A FedEx representative sent a statement about the issues in Macon, saying:

“We are experiencing temporary delays in some of the areas serviced out of both our Macon and Austell facilities – however these are localized issues that we’re aggressively working to resolve. I can assure you that our team is working tirelessly to deliver everyone’s packages ahead of the holidays.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by these delays and appreciate our customers’ patience as we implement contingencies – including securing additional delivery resources, extending operation hours and delivery times, and expanding package sorts – to deliver these packages as quickly as possible. Customers can visit www.fedex.com for package tracking, customer service assistance, or to use our virtual assistant to redirect their packages to be held at one of several nearby locations for pick up.”

Cindy Oldham was fearful she would have to buy different gifts for loved ones after she said she waited more than 10 days to receive them.

“Your package is delayed. Your package is delayed,” said Oldham as she showed Newell the eight FedEx text alerts she got regarding delays for different packages. that

“I have eight for me and my daughter has one missing. It is very frustrating. These are items that are not available in local stores,” Oldham said.

Oldham’s roommate said she is experiencing the same problem.

“One’s been there since (November) 27th. It’s been in Austell,” Merrie Myrick said.

Mary Lyons is afraid the delays will ruin Christmas.

“Some of my grandbabies are going to be disappointed cause I’m waiting on presents for them,” Lyons said.

Lyons and Oldham told Newell that they received information about what could be causing the delays.

“They just said it was the holiday rush,” Lyons said.

“They didn’t have a driver for our area that was their excuse,” Oldham said.
