But ever since he was a kid, he has dreamed of being an announcer for the Braves.

When Aston talks, everybody listens.

“I was a kid in Columbus, Georgia. Pretending I was a disc jockey,” Aston said.

And he’ll never forget his first Atlanta Braves game.

“Now batting, number 5. Ron Gant! I was like, wow. I’d like to do that one day!” Aston said.

Mark is the longtime voice of the Walton High School Raiders in Cobb County.

But he has always dreamed of the big leagues.

“I’ve been told for years I should go for a job like this,” Aston said.

The Braves are looking for a new public address announcer to fill the shoes of the late, great Casey Motter, who passed away last season.

Hundreds have auditioned and Aston has made the top 12.

The guy affectionately known around these parts as “VOMA” (voice of Mark Aston) says it would be the greatest honor.

“This is a dream come true. Live from Truist Park, it’s the voice of Mark Aston. Now, back to the studio!” Aston said.

The Braves are expected to announce the final three for the job on Friday.
