ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia is hosting a memorial stair climb at Sanford Stadium as a tribute to first responders.
The event starts at 6 this morning, and first responders will enter through Gate 2 around 5:30 this morning.
Athens-Clarke County fire and police departments and officers from UGA campus police are taking part in the annual stair climbing event inside Sanford Stadium for the third year in a row.

They will climb 120 stairs 19 times for a total of 2,280 steps.
That matches the 110 stories at the World Trade Center, where New York City first responders climbed to rescue victims during the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago.
UGA’s Army and Air Force ROTC host and organize the event.
