DECATUR, Ga. - City Schools of Decatur is holding its annual CSD Reads and Dyslexia Awareness Week from Sept. 28 through Oct. 8.
The district said the schedule includes literacy and dyslexia awareness events in and out of school. It said the week lines up with September as National Literacy Month, Georgia Reads Week from Sept. 21-25, October as Dyslexia Awareness Month and World Dyslexia Day on Oct. 8.

City Schools of Decatur said the events will include a dyslexia awareness art competition, guest readers in schools, Georgia Reads for America 250 at the public library and a read-aloud of “Aaron Slater, Illustrator” with Superintendent Dr. Gyimah Whitaker.

The district said people can also register for Decatur Book Festival events, including a keynote address from 2026 Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Goldstone at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 and a Kidnote address with Katherine Applegate and Gennifer Choldenko at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
City Schools of Decatur said the week will end with an invitation for members of the Decatur community to wear red Thursday, Oct. 8 in honor of World Dyslexia Day.
