Car wreck kills child, injures 4 others

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A two-vehicle crash in Rockdale County has killed a 6-year-old boy and injured four other people, according to Rockdale County Sheriff's Deputies.

News Chopper 2 flew over the scene Thursday afternoon shortly after the crash as a truck was hauling away a damaged SUV.

Nearby, a minivan, which appeared to have been T-boned, sat in the grass.

The wreck occurred on West Hightower Trail at Zingara Road.

"It was horrible, just horrible," said Vikki Bullock.

Bullock said emergency crews passed her rushing to the scene as she tried to go home. She arrived at the wreck just before the ambulances arrived.

"We saw them doing CPR on someone on the side of the van," she said.

Authorities said the child died at the scene.

The three injured were taken to downtown Atlanta hospitals for treatment. Investigators have not said how bad the victims were injured.

Channel 2's Tony Thomas learned the 6-year-old boy's mother and grandfather were in the minivan with him during the wreck.

A 16-year-old male was driving the SUV and had his 74-year-old grandmother with him at the time of the wreck.
