ATLANTA — Brush fire causes a local business to evacuate customers Tuesday afternoon.
Atlanta firefighters hit the ground to fight the burning brush along the the tree line behind the Goodwill in the 2100 block of Piedmont Road around 5:14p.m.
Drivers along Interstate 85 at Piedmont Road NE could see flames burning trees in the woods between retail stores and I-85.

The flames were spreading. Atlanta Fire confirmed to Channel 2 that as a precaution, employees of a nearby business were evacuated.
Fire crews did contain the flames and stop the spread of the fire, protecting structures in the area.

Goodwill confirmed to Channel 2 that it did not have to evacuate.
Trenise Lyons, Director of Communications and Customer Engagement, Goodwill of North Georgia sent this statement to Channel 2:
“Earlier today, the fire department quickly extinguished a grass fire behind our Piedmont store. No one was hurt, and our guests and team members were never in danger. The building is undamaged, and the store and donation door are open for business as usual.”
Atlanta Fire said no one was injured.
