ATLANTA — The Adams boys were warming up for Atlanta Braves baseball Tuesday.

It’s the playoffs, and that calls for an important decision by their dad.
“Oh, it’s a great time, great day to skip school and come to the baseball game,” father Drew Adams said. We surprised them last night.”
“Skip school?” Channel 2’s Berndt Petersen asked. “Skip school,” Adams said.
A watch party in The Battery outside Truist Park started well before noon. By noon, they opened the gates and fans started crowding in.

Longtime Braves fan Cheryl Bost says she has been following the team all her life.
“We used to listen to baseball on the radio. We didn’t have a TV. So now I get the chance to come in person!” Bost said. “If I’m not here, you can bet I’m watching TV. Every game. I don’t miss a game.”
The Adams family sure wasn’t going to miss this game. The boys love their favorite Brave.
“Ronald Acuna, Jr.” 8-year-old Cole said.
“Ronald Acuna, Jr.” first grader Brody said.
Also Ronald Acuna, Jr. according to 2-year-old D.J. He was just too shy to say so.
But their greatest hero is dear old dad, who let them cut class to be here.
“Baseball day today,” Adams said.
“I’d say this qualifies as an official field trip,” Petersen told him.
“I would think so. Yeah,” Adams said.
