WSB-TV’s Family 2 Family honored on 40th anniversary by Fulton County Commission

Since launching in 1986, the initiative has become one of Georgia’s most recognized community service programs

ATLANTA — The Fulton County Board of Commissioners honored one of Georgia’s most recognized community service programs on its 40th anniversary.

The Fulton County Commission declared Aug. 19 as Family 2 Family 40th Anniversary Day in the county.

Since launching in 1986, Family 2 Family’s extraordinary community leadership and contributions have strengthened families throughout the state.

“The Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognizes the 40th Anniversary of WSB-TV’s Family 2 Family Project for 40 years of extraordinary community leadership, dedicated public service, and strengthening the fabric of families across Georgia,” said Fulton County Vice Chair Khadijah Abdur-Rahman during the commission meeting.

The commission recognized WSB-TV’s Family 2 Family program for making a long-term difference in the community by developing a network of partnerships with nonprofit organizations, businesses, community leaders and viewers, inspiring Georgians to take action to help their neighbors.

“Thank you for this proclamation and for recognizing the work of so many people who have made Family 2 Family successful over the past 40 years,” said Marian Pittman, president of WSB-TV. “For nearly 78-years, WSB-TV has believed in using the powerful platform of broadcasting for good. We often talk about our responsibility to ‘err on the side of angels,’ and Family 2 Family is one of the clearest examples of that commitment in action. Every day, our employees come to work focused on how we can positively impact the communities we serve. We are honored by this recognition and look forward to continuing that commitment for the next 40 years. This recognition belongs to everyone who has supported Family 2 Family and helped make a difference in the lives of families across Georgia.”

Over the decades, initiatives launched by Family 2 Family include Stuff the Bus, Convoy of Care, food and coat drives, and other public service campaigns across the state.
