According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Dep. Jailer Michael Davis died Tuesday afternoon following a medical emergency. Davis served with the agency for 28 years and was assigned to D Shift at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office said the back-to-back losses have left deputies and staff grieving alongside the families of both men.
“Together, Deputy Davis and Deputy Wasson gave 46 years of service to this agency and the citizens of Richmond County,” the sheriff’s office said. “But their service cannot be measured simply in years. They were deputies, coworkers, friends, and members of our Sheriff’s Office family. They were our brothers.”
The sheriff’s office asked the community to keep the Davis and Wasson families, friends and fellow deputies in their thoughts and prayers.
