ATLANTA — An innocent 85-year-old woman after she was shot in a Southeast Atlanta neighborhood.

Now police are hoping people are so outraged over the violence they lead them to the gunman.

Police told Channel 2’s Darryn Moore that the shooter was targeting someone else.

The other person is a 21-year-old man. Both are currently recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police said they found the 85-year-old woman shot on Browns Mill Road.

Ethel Turner, who has lived in the neighborhood a long time, said she knows the woman.

“She was an innocent bystander, and she got caught up in the crossfire,” Turner said.

A block away, officers found a 21-year-old man shot on Lindsey Drive. They believe he was the target.

“This was a reckless incident, and the Atlanta Police Department will work tirelessly to identify the suspects involved,” Atlanta police Captain Germain Dearlove said.

Turner said she’s fed up with the violence in her neighborhood.

“I’m concerned about all this killing. We need to put the guns down. It’s unnecessary,” Turner said.

Atlanta police vowed to catch the shooter.

“For the community who have mothers, grandmother, aunts, who live, work, thrive in this city, the city is going to demand that we identify those involved,” Dearlove said.

Investigators said they identified a vehicle that was involved in the shooting.

Police said they need the 21-year-old victim to ID the person who shot him and establish a motive.
