Sanitation next level: How The Varsity is working to ease COVID-19 concerns

ATLANTA — The Varsity, one of Atlanta’s famous landmarks got a deep cleaning Thursday night. The Varsity wanted to make sure its customers know that this restaurant is coronavirus free.

The Varsity along with other metro Atlanta businesses hired cleaning companies that use hospital grade disinfectants to spray on every surface of their facilities. It was a huge undertaking for a place as big as The Varsity.

John Carnutt, of IsoKlean says The Varsity is near and dear to his heart and stomach. “I’ve spent several trips here with my kids. I’m a parent,” Carnutt said.

Carnutt and his crew spent Thursday night sanitizing and cleaning The Varsity. They sprayed the disinfectant across the entire place to kill any traces of the coronavirus. Customers are hesitant to come back to shops and restaurants due to the pandemic, so some businesses are taking spic and span to another level.

Businesses take these measures to restore confidence in customers and since the treatment lasts seven days, The Varsity will get this done once a week until this pandemic is over.

Carnutt and his team has worked for this cleaning company for five years and business really changed since March.

Restaurant owners, according to Carnutt, believes a good score from the department of health is not enough. They took it up a notch.

“The pandemic has shined a light--unfortunately--on some services that are needed in order to deliver the most disinfected surfaces possible,” Carnutt said.
