“It’s just the speeding for me and the cutting through in and out of traffic,” said Aminata Kallon.

This month, the state is holding several public meetings to get insights from those who live and work near the Interstate 20 and Interstate 285 corridor, west of the city.

Drivers tell Channel 2′s Ashli Lincoln that they see accidents along these highways every day.

“All three or four lanes, it’s always congested,” said one driver.

Three homes and a business will be displaced, in order for GDOT to acquire the 25 acres needed for the project.

The project is projected to cost around $978 million. The plan will replace existing exit ramps with new ramps. Both I-20 and I-285 will have lanes added to them and several bridges will be replaced.

On I-20, the project will take place between Factory Shoals Road and Hamilton E. Holmes Drive. On I-285, construction will take place between Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Martin Luther King Drive.
