Police obtain arrest warrants in shooting that left teen dead at city pool

ATLANTA — Atlanta police say they have obtained arrest warrants following the deadly shooting of 17-year-old boy at city pool over the weekend.

Police said they were called out to reports of a person shot at Anderson Pool on Anderson Ave. around 6:40 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators said Jakari Dillard had been involved in an argument with another man that escalated into gunfire.

The shooter has not been identified.

“Investigators were able to secure an arrest warrant for murder for a suspect in this case. The suspect remains at large and at this time, we are not releasing his identity,” Atlanta police said in a news release.

The Anderson Park pool is one of City of Atlanta’s 12 outdoor public pools.

On Sunday, the city abruptly announced that all city pools are closing immediately for an “operational assessment.”

There is no word yet on when the pools will reopen.
