Father walking daughter to school finds woman shot to death, witnesses say

ATLANTA — A father just walking his daughter to the elementary school next door spotted a woman’s feet sticking out onto the sidewalk as they passed by around 7:15 a.m. Friday morning.

The witness, who didn’t want to be identified, said at first he didn’t know if she was just passed out or asleep.

“Once I got up on her…was like ma’am? But once got up on her I realized she had a hole in her head…she was dead,” the neighbor said.

He didn’t recognize the victim, dressed in nice clothes.

“Victim is going to be a 30-year-old black female. But there’s no connection to this neighborhood or this area,” Atlanta Police Department Homicide Commander Germain Breedlove said.

The homeowner who Channel 2 Action News Steve Gehlbach talked to doesn’t know how she ended up in his back driveway, no one heard any gunshots, and they’ve never seen her before.

“She doesn’t look like she run around here doing things don’t have no business doing somebody daughter, somebody mamma,” the neighbor said.

The father quickly rushed his daughter to school after making the horrific discovery, and the witness just wants police to figure out who she is, what happened and who’s responsible.

“Right now, it bother me, messed with me real bad,” he said. “It’s bad. it doesn’t make no sense, real senseless.”
