Officer shoots suspect after 2 stabbed outside Atlanta bus station, police say

ATLANTA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting in downtown Atlanta that left three people hospitalized.

Police say they were called to the Greyhound bus station on Forsyth Street around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night in reference to two people being stabbed.

Officers found a man and woman who had been stabbed, but were not critically injured. They were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

A witness pointed out the suspect who had stayed on the scene until police arrived.

The woman was waving around two knives and, according to police, made threatening moves towards the officer when he approached her. The officer asked her to drop the knives and she did not, but continued moving towards.

That’s when police say the officer shot the woman. She was also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, but was not critically injured.

Investigators learned that the stabbing was the result of a fight that started inside the bus station before moving outside, where the stabbings occurred.

None of the people involved in the incident have been identified.

The GBI is continuing its investigation.

This marks the second officer-involved shooting in Atlanta this week.

On Monday, Officer David Rodgers was shot six times by a known gang member he was trying to arrest. The suspect, 22-year-old Christian Eppinger is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
