ATLANTA — The mother of a 13-year-old boy who prosecutors say was sexually assaulted by a reality TV star says her son has been forced into extensive therapy as he tries to heal from what happened.
“My son is only 13,” the mother said in a statement read during a Fulton County court hearing Tuesday.
Sidney Favors, better known as Sidney Starr, appeared before a judge Tuesday seeking bond.
Favors is known for appearances on “Love & Hip Hop” and “Baddies ATL” and has nearly 500,000 followers on Instagram.

The Hapeville Police Department arrested Favors earlier this month at the Embassy Suites along International Boulevard.
During Tuesday’s hearing, prosecutors provided new details about what they say happened inside the hotel.
A prosecutor said the 13-year-old told investigators he was in the hotel lobby when Favors approached him and told him he was cute.
Prosecutors said Favors admitted the child later entered an elevator with her and went into her hotel room.
“The allegation is that they engaged in sexual contact,” a prosecutor told the judge.
Favors is facing charges of sodomy, sexual battery of a child and aggravated child molestation.
The boy’s mother described the impact the allegations have had on her son.
“He has been required to attend extensive therapy to begin the healing process for what was done to him,” her statement said.
She said her son’s sense of safety has also been taken away.
“At this age when he should feel safe, innocent and protected, he is now forced to cope with trauma that no child should ever have to endure,” the mother said.
Prosecutors argued Favors should remain behind bars, telling the judge they were concerned about possible intimidation because of her large social media and television presence.
Favors is from Chicago and prosecutors said she has limited ties to the Atlanta area. Her attorney pointed out that she has only one prior traffic citation.
The judge ultimately denied Favors’ request for bond, finding that her lack of ties to Atlanta made her a flight risk.
“At this time this defendant remains in a no bond status,” the judge said.
