“Right now, I know at least four shots were fired. He was treated on the scene, and transported to Grady, in critical condition. I just got word, he is in critical, but he is up and speaking with the detective we have down there.” said Avondale Estates Police Chief Harry Hess.
A woman who was headed to a doctor appointment on the same street, came upon the shooting scene.
“When I got there someone was laying on the ground. It was quite traumatizing for me. I was here for treatment, and I just had to recompose myself because I didn’t know what happened,” said witness Kree Shropshire.
Shropshire says medical personnel from her doctor’s office rushed to provide first aide to the wounded man, before paramedics could arrive.
“I was just praying for him and hoping that he comes through.” said Shropshire.
Based on physical evidence, security camera images and witness accounts gathered at the scene, officers were able to identify a suspect and suspect vehicle that left the location prior to the arrival of police.
