ATLANTA — Several Atlanta police officers now have a new ride.

It’s part of a new program that allows officers to take their vehicles home with them.
The Atlanta Police Department launched the program as a way to retain officers.

Police Chief Darin Schierbaum noticed that one of the main reasons officers left the department is because they went to another one that had a take-home program.
“It’s definitely an incentive as far as morale. Something to look forward to,” Ofc. Gary Baker said.
In November 2022, the department unveiled a new design for its patrol cars.
APD presented four take-home vehicles to Zone 3 officers.
