ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta is making an effort to stop racers from vandalizing Atlanta’s famed rainbow crosswalks for a third weekend in a row.
For the last two weekends, reckless drivers have done donuts on the crosswalks at Piedmont Ave. and 10th St. and left tire marks on the brightly painted rainbows, forcing the City to clean it up.

Now, the City is taking further action by installing metal plates in the intersection that aim to deter the drivers from continuing the dangerous practice.
Surveillance footage and video posted to social media and shared with Channel 2 Action News show large crowds gathering around the intersection as the drivers perform their stunts.
In some cases, dozens of people are within inches of the cars.
