NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — If you use MARTA trains to make your way around metro Atlanta, the transit authority wants you to be aware of some work on its tracks that may impact your travel over the next few days.
Beginning Friday, Feb. 18, rail service on the Red Line south of the Dunwoody station, between the Medical Center station and Buckhead station, will be suspended while the track is replaced. It’s anticipated that the service will resume starting at 4 a.m. on Feb. 24.

MARTA will be offering its “MARTAConnect” option to customers impacted by the closure. The program provides a link to a $15 Uber or Lyft voucher for customers that can be downloaded and used twice a day to travel to or from the impacted stations. MARTA said that customers are responsible for any amount over $15 per trip and will not receive a credit if the trip is less than the $15 provided.
You can find information on the MARTA Connect program on its website.
The agency said station agents and transit ambassadors will be posted at the impacted stations to help customers along with extra signs to point customers to bus shuttles and trains.
They are asking customers who normally drive to and park at the North Springs, Sandy Springs and Dunwoody stations for southbound stations to consider going to either the Doraville or Lindbergh stations during the closure. MARTA said rail service north of Dunwoody and south of the Lindbergh station along with Gold, Blue and Green lines will not be affected by the track work.

According to MARTA, the track replacement project is the beginning of a multi-year effort to replace aging track and switches throughout its system, which runs to several parts of the metro area.
The work on the Red Line includes a rail crossover location that impacts both of the existing main line tracks which is why the transit agency said it can’t utilize single-track operations. MARTA said that along with the MARTAConnect program, free shuttle buses will be provided to connect to the stations impacted by the track work.
Those buses will operate continuously from 9 p.m. on Feb. 18 until the end of service on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
