ATLANTA — Police say a man was found shot to death in the middle of a southwest Atlanta street Saturday morning.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired around 7:30 a.m. on Valeland Ave. They found a man dead in the street between Barge Road and Rex Street.

Channel 2′s Christian Jennings was at the scene, where police said they believe the man was in his 60s.
Police were going door-to-door looking for witnesses and surveillance video. A police dog was also on the scene.
There was some damage to nearby property from bullets. No one else was injured.
Police said the investigation is preliminary and they have not identified any potential suspects.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Neighbors who heard the shots were shocked.
“It’s terrible,” one neighbor said. “Look at the word we’re living in. We could be right here an somebody could just walk up...”
This was the second fatal shooting in metro Atlanta Saturday morning. A 20-year-old man was shot to death and a 16-year-old was injured in Gwinnett County around 6:30 a.m.
