ATLANTA — Atlanta police say a man died in a Saturday afternoon shooting in a southwest Atlanta apartment. One person has been detained.

Police currently believe that the deadly shooting at 1700 Stanton Road SW happened because of an escalating dispute among apartment occupants.
The shooting occured at around 1:30 p.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
Homicide investigators are at the scene trying to determine the exact sequence of events.
Police said that because it’s believed the shooting was a targeted incident involving acquaintances, the public is not in danger in this instance.
Authorities haven’t released the name of the deceased or the person detained.
