ATLANTA — Atlanta police say officers are investigating a hit-and-run crash on the downtown connector that killed a man in the early morning hours of Saturday.

Police said officers responded at around 4:55 a.m. to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle southbound on the downtown connector near University Avenue.
Medical personnel pronounced the man dead on the scene. He has not been identified.
The investigation indicates the man walked onto the interstate from the Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW ramp before he was struck by a vehicle. The driver left the scene.

The Accident Investigations Unit responded to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.
A suspect or vehicle description hasn’t been released by APD.
