BLECKLEY COUNTY, Ga. — A juvenile accused of threatening to carry out a school shooting in Bleckley County also allegedly expressed plans to carry out an attack at a church, according to the sheriff’s office.

New information was released Friday as investigators continue looking into the original school threat.
The Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office said investigators determined the juvenile had expressed plans to carry out an “active event” at a church. However, no specific church was identified, and no specific date or time was given for the alleged church threat.
The sheriff’s office is urging churches, congregations and residents throughout the community to remain aware as the investigation continues.
The investigation began Thursday when the sheriff’s office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation received information about what authorities say was a serious and active threat involving the school system.

According to investigators, a juvenile had expressed intentions of carrying out a school shooting.
Because of the seriousness of the information, deputies and FBI agents worked to identify and locate the juvenile. Authorities said the juvenile was quickly identified, located and taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office said it believes the actions of law enforcement prevented a potentially devastating act of violence against students, educators and the community.
The juvenile remains in custody and is now being held by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
The investigation remains active, with the sheriff’s office working alongside federal partners to examine the school and church-related threats.
