ATLANTA — An Atlanta United States Postal Service employee and former college football standout has died, according to officials.

Arnold Walker III, 35, died Sept. 12 in Atlanta, according to Alcorn State University.
Walker was an employee at the Wesley Chapel Post Office. The U.S. Postal Service confirmed his death and said it is providing counseling services to employees at the location as the investigation continues.
“The Postal Service is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a postal family member on September 12,” USPS said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”
The circumstances surrounding Walker’s death have not been released.

Walker was an Atlanta native and graduate of Ronald E. McNair High School. He also made his mark as a standout college football player.
During his career, Walker became one of the most accomplished running backs in Alcorn State football history, finishing with 2,806 rushing yards and breaking a school record that had stood for more than 30 years.
Walker was named the 2013 SWAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-SWAC honors.
He was inducted into the Alcorn State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2025.
Funeral and memorial service information has not yet been released.
