ATLANTA — Atlanta police are searching for a driver who left the scene after hitting and killing a man on Interstate 75/85 southbound near University Avenue SW early Saturday.

The hit-and-run occurred at approximately 4:55 a.m. Officers from the Atlanta Police Department’s Zone 3 responded to reports of a pedestrian struck.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
According to preliminary findings from the Atlanta Police Department, the pedestrian entered the southbound lanes of downtown connector after walking down from the Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW ramp. He was then struck by a vehicle in a lane of travel.

The driver involved did not remain at the scene following the collision.
