ATLANTA — After a rash of investigations across Georgia looking into officers accused of misusing Flock Safety, the Atlanta Police Department is taking steps to ensure it’s not happening here.
APD said in a statement that it values public trust in its use of all necessary tools to help keep Atlanta safe.
As part of that process, “the Department is currently conducting a proactive audit of personnel usage of license plate reader technology.”
Because the audit is ongoing, APD would not provide additional details about the process, but said more information would be provided when it was complete, as appropriate.
APD confirmed the audit the same day members of the Atlanta City Council heard from the department about its latest crime statistics and members of council introduced a resolution about the use of Flock Safety data and tools in the city of Atlanta.
