“Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl,” Jolie posted on her Instagram page Sunday.

Zahara and her mother attended a sendoff for incoming freshman students in Los Angeles. The sendoffs are hosted by alumni chapters for Spelman College and Morehouse College.

“SpelHouse SendOff is the opportunity to show our incoming students a glimpse of the family they are joining!” Morehouse College posted on Instagram. The video shows Jolie and Zahara dancing the electric slide to Cameo hit “Candy.”

Jolie and her ex-husband Brad Pitt have six children together. The couple adopted Zahara from Ethiopia in 2005.

Zahara’s older brothers Maddox and Pax, who were adopted from Cambodia and Vietnam, both attend college in Asia. Jolie has been vocal about her children’s adoptions and how they understand their cultures.

“My daughter is from Ethiopia...and I have learned so much from her. She is my family, but she is an extraordinary African woman,” Jolie told Time Magazine in 2020 interview. “Her connection to her country, her continent is very, it’s her own. It’s something I only stand back in awe of.”

Spelman College is one of 10 historically Black colleges and universities in Georgia. More than 2,100 students from 43 states and 10 countries attend Spelman College.
